About IWG group
The ODC has a series of monthly calls organised by the Implementation Working Group, a group led by two voluntary co-chairs and gather the international Open Data Charter adopters, endorsers and practitioners, as well as members of the greater open data community, from around the world. The agenda is set up collaboratively at the beginning of each year and the idea of the IWG is to have a safe space to share and learn from each other. We meet on a monthly basis to discuss best practices, latest implementations and hot topics–whatever is pertinent to the ever-growing open data community.
“Data is approached like the “new oil”. However, many approaches to data use need proper discussion, including data reuse, particularly in the Global South. Open data is a promising asset for those tools and initiatives that support public sector-led digital transformation and can increase multi-stakeholder commitment to the SDGs. The working group can drive better public policy from open data and governments’ fulfillment of the collective obligation to benefit individuals and communities in the context of the digital economy.” —Larissa Magalhães, IWG co-chair
